ABOUT THIRD RAIL AUDIO

Third Rail Audio is the creative powerhouse behind immersive soundscapes for film, TV, theatre, games, podcasts, commercials—and yes, even “weird lore” boss fights. Founded by composer and sound designer Matthew M. Nielson, our work sits at the nexus of emotion and immersion. With roots in world-class theatre and an evolving presence in screen and game audio, we design sonic journeys that command attention.

  • Original Music & Scoring: From sweeping orchestral themes to intimate melodic cues, delivering musical contexts tailored to narrative and mood.

  • Sound Design: Crafting cinematic, ambient, UI, diegetic, combat, and magic sound—whether for a stage or pixel-filled realm.

  • Audio Post & Sync: Dialogue editing, voiceover recording (remote or in‑situ), multi-format mixing and mastering, plus Wwise & Unreal implementation.

  • Technological Fluency: Pro Tools, Nuendo, Logic; Izotope, FabFilter & Native instruments; MIDI programming and sample‑library workflows.

  • Broad Experience: Clients include Netflix (“Adam Project”), Syfy (“Magicians”), Netflix specialties, National Geographic, UFC on FOX, EPIX Drive-In, Delivery.com, Coinstar, Northwell Health, Puppy Bowl XVII, and theatre productions ranging from Broadway to regional premieres.

We work closely with studios, brands, and creatives to shape sound that moves hearts, sharpens action, and builds worlds. Whether you’re looking for the precision of a combat sequence, the emotive pull of a trailer, or the musical thread that ties your project together, Third Rail Audio is wired to deliver.
